Floro.
WB Norwegen, H.K.A. Rgt. 981, H.K.B. 5/981 Floröy, 6x15,5cm.
South-west of the city centre of Floro, near the boundary of an industrial area and a wood, is the battery located. The battery is hard to find, the emplacements are covered by the vegetation. See for exact location the GPS data.
The battery original has six emplacements for a 15,5cm gun; we've visited two of them and one of them has still its original 15,5cm gun. The gun looks impressive; it's a 15cm gun from 1918 so it might have been used in the aftermath of WW I. Just behind the emplacements, on top of a small hill near a housing estate, is the fire-control bunker located. We couldn't enter the bunker but it sure looks like a 636 with its typical nose and roof.
Very special at this locations are the many underground locations with some of them even build as a "ST" shelter in the rocks and gas locks at the entrances. The battery is spread over a wide area and now a days a lot of house and roads are build around and even trough the location and the rocks even.
We like to thanks the members of the local historical foundation for there kindness to lead us around the interesting locations at Floro, see there website www.flora-krigshistorielag.com
